Almost all non-U.S. clients that form a Delaware LLC plan to conduct business, in one way or another, within the United States, and they all want to know how to open a Delaware business bank account in the U.S.
No matter what the nature of your business may be—importing/exporting goods; selling a finished product; providing remote telephone/internet support; offering consulting services; or physically operating a brick-and-mortar storefront in the United States, a U.S. business bank account is almost always a necessity.
We have many non-U.S. clients from India, for example, who form a Delaware LLC for the sole purpose of opening a U.S. bank account, which they need in order to apply for a U.S. merchant account and/or a PayPal account.
That being said, in some cases, opening a business bank account in America for a Delaware LLC as a non-U.S. citizen can be a challenge. Every U.S. bank is slightly different, and specific requirements for opening a business bank account vary.
We can prepare, file and provide you with the approved Certificate of Formation, electronically, in two to three days or less. We assist our non-U.S. clients with obtaining their federal EINs. We also provide you with free templates of LLC Operating Agreements.
The trouble is, one of the most common requirements for opening a U.S. business bank account—and perhaps the most difficult for non-U.S. clients—is showing up in person. When it comes to opening the business bank account, virtually all U.S. banks want to meet with their clients face-to-face. This is where it can get tricky.
While some people may have the time and resources to travel to the U.S. to open the bank account, for others, it may not be an ideal solution.
Often, clients reach out to a friend or family member that lives in the U.S., someone they trust who is willing to help open the bank account for the Delaware LLC on their behalf.
In other situations, clients may decide to appoint a manager that resides here in the U.S. as an authorized person to open and manage the bank account.
Traditionally, business owners do their research on a multitude of U.S. banks to find the one they feel best suits their needs.
Typically, they then contact the bank to find out exactly what is needed, so when the time comes to open the business bank account, the process is seamless. A little pre-planning may end up saving time and money in the long run.
While we cannot assist you with opening a U.S. bank account (Delaware Registered Agents are specifically prohibited from doing so), we are here to help in any other way we can. If you have any questions about forming your Delaware LLC, please give us a call at 800-345-2677. Our friendly customer service representatives are ready to assist.

Each U.S. bank has different requirements for opening a business bank account. Unfortunately for our international clients, one of the most common and inflexible requirements for opening a business bank account in the United States is showing up in person to do so. We are not able to assist in this situation, unfortunately. Some business owners have had success by finding a branch of an American bank that is located near them, and asking that branch to facilitate opening an account. Hope this information helps.Venkat said: Monday, January 9, 2017
