Banking Solutions for your Delaware Company

Banking Solutions for you Delaware CompanyFor new business owners with a Delaware company, the opening of the bank account is an important step on the path to success. U.S. banks usually require an in-person appointment to complete this process. However, there are options for clients who would like to open a bank account online for their company.

For many U.S. clients, Bluevine is a popular choice for business financing and for opening a checking account online. According to the Bluevine website: “Bluevine was founded in 2013 as a financial technology company that builds better banking solutions for growing businesses.” To open a company bank account, you must have a U.S. Social Security Number and a Federal Tax ID Number (EIN) for your business.

Many Non-US and US clients ask about Mercury, an online resource where clients can sign up for checking and savings accounts for their company. Mercury offers debit cards and complete domestic and international wire transfers for businesses. It is important to note that Mercury is a financial technology company and not a bank. According to the Mercury website, banking services are provided by Choice Financial Group and Evolve Bank & Trust®, both Members FDIC.

Although Mercury assists clients from all around the world, it cannot provide services for companies that primarily operate in any of the following countries: Belarus, Burundi, Central African Republic, Crimea, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Nicaragua, North Korea, Pakistan, Republic of Congo, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Yemen, or Zimbabwe. For more information regarding prohibited countries, feel free to visit Mercury here.

When clients form a Delaware company, they may open a bank account online anywhere in the world. The bank account of a Delaware company does not have to be in Delaware or in the U.S.  Assisting with bank accounts is outside the scope of services at Harvard Business Services, Inc. (HBS), however, we can provide you with the essential information you need to complete the process. HBS can provide you with approved Delaware formation documents. Because banks change their rules and requirements regularly, it is recommended for clients to contact multiple banks to determine what is required for a company bank account prior to making in-person appointments.

If you plan on forming a new Delaware company, or if you have any questions regarding the formation process, we can be reached at 1-302-645-7400 or 1-800-345-2677 ext. 6900 or via email at info@delawareinc.com. We can also be reached via skype at delawareinc.com.
