Harvard Business Services, Inc. has a number of clients without a physical address or trying to establish a presence in the U.S. from overseas. To accommodate these clients, we provide a variety of Delaware mail forwarding services to suit your company's needs.
Our mail forwarding service provides your company with a Delaware mailing address where we can receive postal and courier documents on your company's behalf before forwarding them to you.
A mail forwarding service receives mail at a designated address and sends it to another location on your behalf. These services are commonly used by LLC owners who need a reliable mailing address while living or operating in another state. Depending on the provider, mail can be physically forwarded, scanned and uploaded digitally, securely stored, or shredded.
In states like Delaware, mail forwarding services are especially popular among business owners seeking the benefits that come with forming an LLC here.
While this service is great for general mail, note that it is different from a Registered Agent service, though both services are available with Harvard Business Services, Inc.
Subscribing to one of our mail forwarding services grants your company authorization to use our Delaware agent address as your company's mailing location for document correspondence. Your mail will be addressed to your company name at our Lewes, DE location:
[Your Company Name]
16192 Coastal Highway
Lewes, DE 19958
Once the mail arrives for your company, we will sort out the junk mail and forward postal and courier mail as it is received. The mail forwarding service is for the company. Therefore, it is important to have any senders of mail correspondence list your company name as the addressee.
You may use our Delaware address only as a mailing address. You may not, among other things, display our address in a manner that states or implies it is your office location or place of business. Our Mail Forwarding Services Agreement provides additional prohibited uses of our address in Exhibit A.

Harvard Business Services, Inc. is required to act as a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA), which is an agency officially authorized by the US Postal Service to receive mail on behalf of other businesses. When you choose Harvard for your mail forwarding service, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) now requires you to fill out the USPS Form 1583, which authorizes us to receive, open, scan, and forward your mail. For more information regarding USPS Form 1583, please use the following link: https://mcd.delawareinc.com/cmra
Similar to most traditional mail forwarding services, our team will receive your mail at the designated mailing address (listed above) and then physically send it to your current location. After signing up, you can update your mailing address with the post office, banks, businesses, subscriptions, and other contacts so future mail is delivered here. When your mail arrives, our team collects and sorts it based on your preferences. Upon request, our team then packages your mail and forwards it to the address you specify.
At Harvard Business Services, Inc., our team utilizes scan forwarding as a digital-first approach to handling physical mail. When a piece of mail arrives at our facility, we scan the mail and upload the image to a secure online portal. Once you review it, you can then choose to have it shredded or physically forwarded to your actual location.
Can I use a Delaware mail forwarding address as my legal business address?
You can use a Delaware mail forwarding address as your business mailing address for LLC formation, tax documents, and general correspondence. However, some banks, licensing agencies, and platforms may require a separate physical operating address. A mail forwarding address also does not replace the legal requirement for a registered agent in Delaware.
What are the benefits of using a mail forwarding service?
Having a form of contact address is a huge benefit if you don't have a U.S. address of your own. Our service is great for non-U.S. residents who want to start a U.S. business. It is also great if you run a business from home, you may not want to list your home address for business purposes.
Do I still need a registered agent if I use mail forwarding?
Yes. A mail forwarding service and a registered agent serve different purposes. Delaware law requires every LLC or corporation to maintain a registered agent with a physical Delaware address to receive legal and state documents. Mail forwarding services primarily handle general business mail and correspondence rather than official legal notices or compliance documents.
Who can sign up for your Delaware mail forwarding service?
Our plans are available to anyone with a Delaware company who appoints Harvard Business Services as their Registered Agent. You can add a mail forwarding service as soon as you form a new Delaware company or change your Registered Agent to Harvard if you have an existing company with another agent.
What is USPS Form 1583?
USPS Form 1583 is a required postal form that authorizes an agency to receive mail on your behalf. It is used when opening a mail forwarding or virtual mailbox account. To complete the form, you must provide identity verification documents and, in many cases, notarize the application before service can begin.
Does mail forwarding include physical forwarding or only digital scans?
Our virtual mail forwarding plans are for digital scans of the mail we receive addressed to your company. We can forward the original, physical piece to your address upon request for an additional cost.
How will I be permitted to use this address? Can I list it as my physical office address?
When listing the official physical address of your business, such as for the Registered Agent communications contact for a new company or for the IRS when applying for an EIN, you cannot use our address. Your actual, physical address where you are located is required.
Here are some additional examples of how you may and may not use our Delaware virtual address as a Mail Forwarding client:

Prohibited Uses:
This is not an exhaustive list of permitted and prohibited uses. In general, you may not use the address in any way that suggests you or your company is physically located at our address.

What is actually located at your mail forwarding address?
The Delaware mail forwarding address you will use – 16192 Coastal Highway, Lewes, DE 19958 – is our physical office location. This is our headquarters and our staff works from this location Monday through Friday.
Can I have packages sent to the mail forwarding address?
No. The mail forwarding services are designed for document mail correspondence only. Packages or products of value should be shipped to your preferred address, where you can directly receive those items.
